Events in central and east London

Until Sunday, the IAAF World Championships are taking place in Stratford and central London. Services to and from Stratford and key interchange stations will be busier than usual before and after the events.

Roads in the St James’s Park area in central London will be closed from 06:00 on Saturday until 05:00 on Monday, due to an event taking place on Sunday.

London Underground

Bakerloo line
On Sunday, there will be no service between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone, due to Network Rail track work.

Circle line
There will be no service between Edgware Road and Hammersmith while we test new signalling and replace track at Latimer Road.

Hammersmith & City line
There will be no service between Edgware Road and Hammersmith while we test new signalling and replace track at Latimer Road.

London Overground

Tonight, Thursday, there will be no service between Sydenham and West Croydon after 22:30, due to Network Rail track work.

All weekend, there will be no service between Gospel Oak and Barking. This is while Network Rail carry out major works to enable new, longer trains to run from 2018.

On Sunday there will be no service between the following stations due to Network Rail track work:
• Euston and Watford Junction
• New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace/West Croydon

Buses

Bus users may be affected by the following this weekend. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination:

South London – Until March next year, there are various lane closures on A23 Brixton Road between Camberwell New Road and Vassall Road. This is for utility works.

Bromley – Until early September, temporary traffic signals will be in place on A21 Bromley Common at the junction of Hayes Lane. This is for utility works.

London Bridge – From midnight on Friday night until 05:00 on Monday, Tooley Street will be closed in both directions between Borough High Street and Bermondsey Street. This is for Network Rail work.

Central London – From midday until 16:00 on Saturday, there will be delays to traffic and road closures on Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, Haymarket, Pall Mall East, Trafalgar Square, and Whitehall. This is for a march.

Ealing – From 09:45 until 14:00 on Sunday, there will be delays to traffic and road closures in the area, including Uxbridge Road, Culmington Road, Mattock Lane and Chapel Road. This is for a procession.

Islington – From Wednesday until early November, A1 Islington High Street/Upper Street will be closed southbound between Liverpool Road and City Road. This is for Thames Water works.

This weekly London travel update will help you get around London this weekend, 18-19 March. With only one London Underground line affected by planned works, most of the network will be open with services running as normal. Please check if any of the following affect you:

London Underground:

Northern line

There will be no service between Archway and High Barnet/Mill Hill East from approximately 01:25 on Saturday and all day on Sunday. This is to allow for track improvement work at Highgate and High Barnet.

London Overground:

All weekend there will be no service between Romford and Upminster, due to Crossrail construction work and Network Rail infrastructure work.

On Sunday there will be no service between the following stations:
• Camden Road and Stratford due to bridge replacement work at Highbury Corner and Network Rail station work at Hackney Wick
• Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction until 11:45, due to Network Rail track work

DLR:

There will be no service between Bow Church and Stratford all weekend. This is for Crossrail construction work at Pudding Mill Lane.

TfL Rail:

All weekend, trains will not run on the entire line. This is while Network Rail carry out track and station improvements as part of their Railway Upgrade Plan, as well as Crossrail construction work.

There is no service between Brentwood and Shenfield until late May. This is while Network Rail carry out major work at Shenfield to upgrade tracks, signalling and overhead lines.

Emirates Air Line

The Emirates Air Line is closed for planned maintenance work. It will reopen on Monday.

Buses:

Bus users may be affected by the following this weekend. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination:

Tulse Hill – From 22:00 on Friday until 05:00 on Monday, and for the following two consecutive weekends, there will be lane closures and temporary traffic lights will be in place on Thurlow Park Road between St Faith’s Road and Birkbeck Hill. This is for Network Rail bridge work.

London Bridge – From 01:00 on Saturday until 05:00 on Monday, Tooley Street and Duke Street Hill will be closed in both directions between Borough High Street and Bermondsey Street. This is for road works. From 05:00 on Monday, the closure of Tooley Street will revert back to eastbound only.

Victoria – From 08:00 until 20:00 on Saturday, and between the same times on Sunday, Victoria Street will be closed in both directions between Bressenden Place and Palace Street. This is for pedestrian crossing works.

Central London – From 11:30 until 17:00 on Saturday, roads in the area will be busier than usual and may be subject to closures, including Regent Street, Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, Haymarket, Cockspur Street, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and Parliament Square. This is for a march.

Central London – From 06:00 until 16:00 on Sunday, various roads will be closed for a parade.

Roads:
Road users may be affected by the following this weekend:

Tulse Hill – From 22:00 on Friday until 05:00 on Monday, and for the following two consecutive weekends, there will be lane closures and temporary traffic lights will be in place on A205 Thurlow Park Road (South Circular) between St Faith’s Road and Birkbeck Hill.
