The London Marathon takes place on closed roads in central London on Sunday 23 April 2017. If you're travelling in London on the day, here's how your journey may be affected. If you're travelling in central London on Sunday 23 April 2017, the main transport changes are: Roads will be closed across south east and central London between 06:00-19:00 Buses in central London and Greenwich will terminate early or be diverted from 06:30 to 19:30 DLR will run a changed service until 17:00 Tube and rail will be the best way to get around and enjoy the day, but the Jubilee, Circle and District lines will be busier than usual with spectators and participants Driving Roads closures and extra traffic will make central, south east and east London busier between 06:00 to 19:00 - if you can, avoid driving in central London during this time. Coming back into London, the rain spat in my face reminding me that the sun will not always shine and holiday time is over. The final stage interview was a little more ruthless in a meeting room and questions being asked by the head of department. Despite the minor stress and anxiety planting itself in red patches on my neck and cheeks (praying the lighting in the room softened it), I was phoned the next morning with the offer.
